Last week, Intel has started deliveries of second generation controllers Thunderbolt, which will become part of platform Panther Point. Assocaite obtained information about the successor controllers Cactus Ridge.
The new solution, which is scheduled for release at first half of 2013, codenamed Redwood Ridge and will be used in the platform Shark Bay (Haswell processors and chipsets Lynx Point). Significant changes in the functionality of controllers is not expected: the technology was listed among the innovations of Power Optimizer and support for standard DisplayPort 1.2.
In 2014 will be released Broadwell processors and chipsets Crescent Bay, simultaneously with which Intel expects to begin deliveries of fourth-generation controllers Thunderbolt. Related Products :
