In the end of April we reported about AMD plans to show the systems on base of chipset RD790 during exhibition computex 2007. with reference to official  AMD road map , yesterday AMD prepares to release in the third quarter 2007 the entire chipsets family  intended for work with processors generation K10. Let us recall that the special features of processors generation k10 is new the design (Socket AM2+), and also the support Of hyperTransport 3.0. Actually, the current chipsets (Socket AM2) can work with these processors but in this case the system bus hyperTransport 1.0 will be used . According to some data, passage to system bus HyperTransport 3.0 will bring noticeable boost only in multiprocessor systems; therefore the owners of present motherboards socket AM2 can completely and comfortably work with processors socket AM2+. Let us note the information about future AMD chipsets. AMD RD790 - > high end chipset, it is capable to support up to four slots PCI express x16 (four PCI express x8 , one PCI express x16 + two PCI express x8 or PCI express x16 + PCI express x16). Still six lines PCI express can be used for expansion card controllers  . Chipset RD790 support hyperTransport 3.0 and PCI express 2.0. Chipset RD790 can be used also in dual-processor systems class quad FX with support to processors socket F+. The cost of motherboard (on base of RD790) will start from $150. AMD RD780 - > support two slots PCI express x16, which work according to : PCI express x8 + PCI express x8. Chipset RD780 support hyperTransport 3.0 and PCI express 2.0. The cost of motherboard on the base of RD780 will be packed in range $70-100. AMD RX780 - > support one slot PCI express x16, which corresponds to the specifications PCI express 2.0. Chipset RX780 support hyperTransport 3.0. The cost of motherboard on base of RX780 will be packed in range $50-70. AMD RX740 - > support one slot PCI express x16, which corresponds to the specifications PCI express 1.x. Chipsets RX740 support only HyperTransport 1.0, but this does not limit its compatibility with processors socket AM2+. The cost of motherboard will be packed in range $50-70. Motherboard on the base of all four chipsets can use the maximally standardized design, which simplify their development and lower prime cost. Those four chipset uses the existing south bridge AMD SB600, newer SB700 will be released only in the fourth quarter 2007. For these chipsets AMD developed a new utility, which allow to overclock from Windows, change memory tuning , to check system stability and to do some benchmark. To the first quarter 2008 AMD plan to release the new generation integrated chipsets . Two of them will support directX 10. Let us transfer the fundamental characteristics of integrated chipsets AMD for socket AM2+ platform . AMD RS780 - > will be announced in the first quarter 2008. The built-in graphic core will get support to directX 10 and the advanced video coder UVD. The latter will ensure hadrware decoding h.264/AVC and VC-1. Chipset RS780 will support interfaces DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort. This last will also support the hyperTransport 3.0 and PCI express 2.0. AMD RS780C - > will be announced in the first quarter 2008. From RS780 it differ only with the absence of UVD displayPort support . This chipset will support hyperTransport 3.0 and PCI express 2.0. AMD RS740 - > will be announced in the fourth quarter 2007. The built-in graphic core will support directX 9. This chipset will not support the hyperTransport 3.0 and PCI express 2.0 and here it will  be satisfied with HyperTransport 1.0 and PCI express 1.x..This Chipset still capable to work with processors socket AM2+. South bridge SB700 will bring the support of six ports SATA-300 and regimes RAID 0, 1, 10, 5. The number of ports USB 2.0 will grow to fourteen, the support to the integrated flash- memory is provided  . Related Products :
