Sony developed a standard called XQD. In December last year it approved the final specification of this media type . Memory cards XQD use interface features PCI Express 2.0, which gives them the capacity at 2.5 Gb / s, but now Sony with CompactFlash Association is developing a standard version 2.0, which will increase performance.
XQD 2.0 card will move to the interface PCI Express 3.0, which would increase the maximum bandwidth up to 8 Gb / s, while remain backward compatible with PCI Express interfaces, versions 2.0 and 1.1. Storage media must satisfy the increased demands for reliability and durability.
The devices will be operated in the building with dimensions of 38.5 x 29.6 x 3.8 millimeters. Memory cards XQD designed primarily for use in professional digital cameras and camcorders, and, as expected, will be replacing CompactFlash drive .
