AMD has updated the BIOS firmware for Radeon HD 7950, as it became known last week. New firmware not only increased the default GPU adapter frequency but also enable them to dynamically overclock by PowerTune. Owners of standard samples Radeon HD 7950 can independently update BIOS, while video card manufacturers will continue to produce products with the new settings.
TUL and Sapphire Announced first update . In the first case we deal with the Reference Model Radeon HD 7950, which now operates at frequencies of 850-925 MHz (core GPU) and 5 GHz QDR (memory GDDR5). Video card PowerColor is available under the brand name known as HD7950 Boost State Edition.
Sapphire released the card HD 7950 Vapor-X 3GB Edition . The new firmware improves the GPU core frequency up to 850 MHz, in addition PowerTune can increase this value to 950 MHz. On top of that product is equipped with proprietary cooling system based on heat pipes and two 90-mm fans.
