In this month , Intel company presented the updated mobile platform centrino with (Centrino duo) and corporate (Centrino pro) . AMD did not present any update, besides turion 65 nm versions ; therefore today this last company decided to describe about future mobile platform puma, which will be released in the first quarter 2008. In its composition will enter new chipsets and dual cores 65 nm processors griffin, which relate to the optimized K8 generation . Since this platform contains some interesting solution, we will describe all update  . It is natural that mobile segment are oriented to energy-economy. AMD already spoke about the concept of alternating use between the integrated and discrete graphic cores to save electric energy. Now this concept obtained proper name : PowerXpress. AMD also note that in 2009 , mobile solutions will reach high integration level - instead of north bridge, south bridge and processor can be used only one chip. This idea completely corresponds to the concept of hybrid processors fusion. Chipset RS780M, which will become the base of mobile platform puma, support hyperTransport 3.0 and PCI express 2.0 - for mobile segment this not entirely usual functions combination  . The system bus hyperTransport 3.0 can dynamically change its capacity, being adjusted slightly under the needs of system components and simultaneously decreasing energy consumption. It can be even disconnected completely. Griffin processors will obtain the increased to 2x1 mb cache in the second level. Memory controller will be optimized. Naturally, memory controller processor cores will have separate power as in the case with new generation desktop AMD processors  . The processor Cores can regulate the supply voltage and frequency independently each from other. Core Frequency  in quiet conditions can be reduced to 1/8 of the maximum value. Now AMD processors cannot lower their frequency under 800 MHz in energy-saving states. South bridge SB700 will obtain the support of six ports SATA, one port PATA, fourteen ports USB 2.0, PCI interface , sound controller class HD audio and technology hyperFlash. The latter is analog to turbo memory and ReadyBoost . The integrated graphic core in chipset RS780M will support directX 10 and all contemporary connection interfaces . Related Products :
