Intel p35 chipset support crossFire according to PCI express x16 + PCI express x4; however, this last show lower performance vs chipset intel 975X, which support crossfire according to PCI express x8 + PCI express x8, and also does not have capacity limitations , connected with DMI interface .
If someone is interested on running several video card in intel p35 system , then it has sense to focus attention on motherboard asus P5K64 WS, oriented to work stations segment . Xeon processors have the LGA 775 socket ; therefore this motherboard can be used in our desktop computer . Asus P5K64 WS motherboard has a useful four slots PCI express x16 .

These slots Are located tightly; therefore it is pretty hard to install four video card with two-stage cooling system . Since neither Quad crossfire nor Quad SLI is officially supported by chipset intel p35 , four existing slot PCI express x16 can be engaged by video cards, to show image in eight monitors.

The slots PCI express x16 work according to PCI express x16 + PCI express x4 + PCI express x4 + PCI express x4. Furthermore, asus P5K64 WS has two slots PCI 2.2.

The north bridge and load-bearing elements cooling system used in this motherboard seem sufficiently elegant .

This motherboard support only DDR- 3 memory , whose total volume can reach 8 Gb. Regime DDR 3-1333 is also supported as processors intel with 1333 MHz system bus, including 45 nm four core processor model.

The south bridge ICH9R realized support to six ports SATA-300. Asus P5K64 WS support one port PATA, on the rear panel it is possible to find two ports e-SATA.

Rear panel demonstrates the presence of six ports USB of 2.0, two net gigabit ports, one port IEEE 1394, sound ports, S/PDIF and one port PS/2 for keyboard. As many pays from last asus generation , port PS/2 for mouse is not provided.

The first models of this motherboard overclocked the processor core 2 Duo e6850 (3.0 GHz) stepping E0 to 500 MHz on system bus. Completely impressive result for motherboard, oriented to work stations segment . IN the motherboard BIOS , the system bus frequency range is limited to 800 MHz.

The motherboard asus P5K64 WS is similar to asus P5K WS, witch is equipped with one slot PCI express x16, two slots PCI express x1, one slot PCI- X and two slots PCI 2.2. Both motherboard will appear in sale in the end of June.
