Intel Presentation on the eve of CES 2013 was focused on several areas, one became the Atom processor for tablets and smartphones. Intel is trying to prepare for the increase in sales of cheap smartphones - the capacity of the market, according to some projections, by 2015 will reach 500 million units.  Lexington platform consists of single-core Atom Z2420 1.2 GHz supporting Hyper-Threading, and Intel XMM 6265 modem (HSPA +), supporting the possibility of working with two active SIM cards. Processor Atom Z2420 uses PowerVR SGX 540 graphics system , which provides encoding and decoding of 1080p video at up to 30 frames per second.  Supports two cameras with resolutions up to five megapixels. Atom Z2420 was equipped with a 3.5-inch screen with a resolution of 430 x 320 pixels, the memory card slot microSD, supports reception of FM broadcasts and video streaming wirelessly WiDi.  Intel partners to produce smartphones based on this platform should be Acer, Lava and Safaricom. By the way, the more expensive smartphones this year will receive  Atom Z2580 processor, which is part of  Clover Trail + platform.  This dual-core processor promises to raise the performance of smartphones in half compared with solutions based on Medfield without sacrificing battery life.  It will be released on 32-nm technology, but by the end of this year will be the first tablet based on 22-nanometer processor Atom, are part of the platform Bay Trail .  This generation quad-core processors will raise the performance bar in half, and thus help to create affordable tablet of thickness less than 8 mm, working all day from battery in active use.
