Toshiba managed to build in a special memory chip microelectronic circuits that control memory load data. They have created SRAM chip that uses less battery power. Memory consumption is reduced by 27% in boot mode and 85% in idle mode, which is undoubtedly a very positive impact on the battery life of mobile devices.
Toshiba engineers idea was quite simple. Electricity supplied to the chip, dosed strictly according to the amount of data to be processed. The result - a memory copes with its task, while remaining cool and not expending extra energy to maintain the unused cells.
Described memory chips were showcased at the IEEE 2013 in San Francisco, Toshiba is working on the development of energy efficient technologies.
