Intel reported that the company has created a division of Artificial Intelligence Products Group (a group to develop products related to artificial intelligence). Naveana Rao, former CEO of Nervana, was appointed to lead the group.
The company Nervana was established in 2014 to create solutions related to deep machine learning for different applications. At Intel, Nervana's developments were considered interesting enough to offer in August 2016 an offer from which it could not refuse. If you believe unofficial information, Nervana's purchase cost Intel $ 400 million.
On the basis of Nervana algorithms, Intel developed a computing architecture and the first products for solving problems with machine learning. These are the accelerators Lake Crest and DLIA (Deep Learning Inference Accelerator). The first rely on a unique architecture, and the second - on the matrix FPGA Altera Arria 10. Both solutions promise to become commercial products somewhere from the middle of this year. The creation of a separate division of AIPG within Intel will help to better
allocate resources and forces for the optimal development of the AI direction.
At Intel, they promise to put artificial intelligence at the service of ordinary citizens, not just corporations and state institutions. Recognizing images, speech, processing huge arrays of unstructured data - this and much more promises to make easier a lot of everyday tasks. Related Products :
