We showed in previous news that processors conroe stepping G0 with intensive air cooling and mainboard volt mod can be overclocked to 4.0 GHz , the overclock potential of low-end models is limited due to their low multiplier . G0 stepping processors support 1333 MHz system bus, which will result in low default multiplier . For example, the processor core 2 Duo e6550 (2.33 GHz) was overclocked to 3.5 GHz with stock mainboard, but after Northbridge volt mod this model worked stably at 3.85 GHz. In order to supplement the overclock statistics of processor core 2 Duo e6550 (2.33 GHz) G0 stepping , we checked the xtremeSystems.org forum .where we found a new overclock experiment with the mainboard gigabyte GA -P35-Dq6 (Intel p35) (without volt mod with BIOS version F4) and the processor core 2 Duo e6550 (2.33 GHz) , This last worked at 3.8 GHz with 1.35 v Vcore voltage . overclock was achieved with the air cooler thermalright ultra 120 Extreme. The system bus frequency was equal to 543 MHz. Certainly, not all Core 2 Duo e6550 (2.33 GHz) owners will have similar cooler , but this experiment proved that the mainboard gigabyte on base of chipset intel p35 is completely prepared for serious overclock without any modifications. The cost of processor core 2 Duo e6550 (2.33 GHz) in the parties from 1000 pieces during the announcement day will be $163, Sales will start in 22 July. Thus, our overclock statistics for the model core 2 Duo e6550 stepping G0 contains two results with 3.8-3.85 GHz and one results with 3.5 GHz . For air cooling this is already a very good results. We note also that G0 stepping has lower heat emission, witch usually result in more comfortable overclock. | ||
