In order to accelerate purchase of 1333 MHz FSB processors and to stimulate sales of chipsets series 3x (Bearlake), Intel plans to stop the production of five models core 2 Duo with 1066 MHz FSB to the end of the present year.
Intel will remove the following processor : e6600, E6700, E6300, E6320 and E6420. The final delivery time of these products is outlined for the first quarter 2008.
Since the chipset series 965 (OFFICIALY ) do not support processors with FSB 1333 MHz frequency , together with the planned on 22 July price reduction , Intel will intend to accelerate passage to the new chipset , which support higher FSB frequency .
The e6050 family will include the models e6550, E6750 and E6850 with core frequencies 2,33, 2,66 and 3 GHz. Their prices, will compose 163, 183 and 266 dollars, respectively. Focus attention, this is approximately 40% less than similar models with FSB 1066 MHz .
Let us recall, that the portion of chipsets series 3x in the third quarter will increase from 15% to 38%.
