IBM was able to come up with a different non-volatile memory. For example, on base of material with a variable phase state (PCM), magnetoresistive (MRAM), or on the memristor with traveling magnetic domains - Racetrack.
All changed with the start of solid-state drives mass production ( flash memory NAND-type ). SSD market proved conclusively right to exist. They bought a developer of storage on flash memory enterprise - the company Texas Memory Systems.
Now flash product line Texas Memory - FlashSystem of different difficulty levels - are part of IBM batch production , including systems such as the IBM Storwize V7000, IBM System Storage DS8870 and IBM XIV Storage System. B
To conduct outreach to corporate users by the end of the year IBM will deploy around the world 12 centers of competence. The centers will be polygons to demonstrate the storage systems, the non-volatile memory. Any customer of the company will be able to see how his favorite program will start flying on company equipment. It is, above all, about the financial and current affairs and, of course, such a fashion direction as handling big data. Centers will be opened in countries such as China, France, Germany, India, Japan, Singapore, South America, and the United Kingdom. On the whole program IBM will allocate one billion U.S. dollars.
