Briefly speaking, the 1 Gb memory (even GDDR4) does not give noticeable performance increase . In the test 3DMark06 the collected value is 11359 with screen resolution 1280x1024 pixels. In other words, approximately as much as collects AMD radeon HD 2900 XT with 512 mb GDDR3. The test configuration system included the processor intel core 2 Duo 6600, overclocked to 3 GHz. HD 2900XT core frequency was 850 MHz and 2198 MHz for video memories .  Let us recall, that the version radeon HD 2900XT with 1 Gb GDDR4 memory was practically simultaneously released with the version equipped with 512 mb GDDR3 memory , But here the GDDR4 version was entended for OEM market in first stage . Currently such card are supplied, although in very limited quantity, to AMD partners . Its retail price is approximately 150 dollars higher than the price of version with 512 mb GDDR3 memory . .....
