According to our associate, intel company opened some components of the prepared for release tylersburg platform , intended for servers and work stations on base of nehalem processors . Tylersburg platform will be accessible in three versions: EP - for high performance servers, EN - for initial level servers , and WS - for work stations.
Information are completely limited, but it is known that Intel plans to have different versions from the same chipset for each platform version . At present, Intel used for their designation the name Tylersburg-36D, Tylersburg-36S and Tylersburg-24D. Tylersburg-36D is the chipset for the systems on base Of tylersburg EP and WS with two processor sockets. These systems, in intel opinion , will replace the existing solutions bensley (two-processor servers on base Of woodcrest) and Stoakley, respectively. Tylersburg-24D version will be used in Tylersburg EN - platform with initial level, which will be joined to Bensley VS Cranberry lake. The single-processor platform garlow WS with the arrival Of nehalem will be updated and it will be called Tylersburg WS. Here it is planned to use the chipset tylersburg-36S.
The special feature of nehalem processors which will be installed in tylersburg systems , is the passage from FSB to the new system bus - QuickPath. This is the new name for the already known technology CSI (Common system interconnect). Nehalem architecture will include four cores, capable of processing simultaneously two flows, which will allow to execute up to sixteen flows on systems with two processors.
The release Of tylersburg and Nehalem is planned for the second-half of the next year.
