We already reported about AMD plans on GPU market However, it is also interesting to have some information about future platforms for desktop computers in the period from 2007 to 2009 . AMD  desktop performance platform road-map The following high end  platform will be called Spider. This is the platform for phenom X4 and X2 processors, which will be announced in this year. The processors phenom X4 and X2 will work with chipset series rD7xx. Among supported new technologies there will be the system buses PCIe 2.0 and HyperTransport 3.0 (HT3). After (Spider) will be released Leo, this platform, which is intended for work with the same phenom X4 and X2, produced already on 45- nm standards, and it will appear in 2008. The updated processors phenom X4 and X2 will be equipped with 6 mb L3 cache . As chipsets for this platform will serve the series rD7xx, but already with support to four GPU in crossFire regime  . The data about Leo speak, that GPU series r7xx, produced on 55 nm technical process, will support DirectX 10 (or 11) . In 2009 Year , will arrive the python platform . The special feature of this platform is the support of 4- core fusion processors  , which are designed for installation in AM3 socket. Fusion will possess the built-in graphic core with directX 10 (11) support using the second generation technology ( universal video decoder (UVD) ). AMD plans  to release fusion processor according to 32 nm standards .  Fusion processor will work Paired with chipset series rD8xx, and as memory will be used the DDR3 modules. AMD desktop mainstream platform road-map Cartwheel is the platform for mass buyer, which will arrive as replacement to pinwheel platform  . The latter consists on processor athlon X2 and chipset AMD 690. However, new Cartwheel will support 45- nm processors athlon X2 with new chipset series RS700, which will support PCIe 2.0 and HT3.0. The built-in in chipset graphic core will support directX 10  , technology UVD and Avivo HD. As we already noted that , Fusion will be positioned as a part of platforms for mass market. The platform copperhead includes the native 4- core processor fusion. just as Python. In the platform copperhead will be used the DDR3 memory . Related Products :
