Today, ARM has published technical information about the architecture ARMv8-R, for use in automotive electronics, industrial control systems, security and safety, as well as other built-in appliances. The architecture is based on the decisions embodied in the ARMv7-R (CPU Cortex-R).
A key innovation ARMv8-R is a hardware hypervisor that allows programmers to run a variety of operating systems, applications, and real-time tasks on a single processor, providing strict isolation between them. For example, a processor based on ARMv8-R is able to run both operating systems with a graphic interface, for example, Linux, and RTOS, for example, engine management. In addition, the architecture allows the use of more sophisticated methods of programming embedded systems like automated code generation.
Support ARMv8-R will appear in products like INTEGRITY (Green Hills Software), Nucleus (Mentor Graphics) and T-Kernel (eSOL). All solutions - hardware and software - will meet the strictest safety standards, including the AUTOSAR, ISO 26262 and IEC 61508. Related Products :
