The announcement of chipset AMD RD790 is planned to the end of September, Asus and Gigabyte will become the first producers. Motherboards models (given by these producers) are passing certification in AMD laboratory . The mass production of these motherboards ,from asus and Gigabyte will begin in first half of September, other producers will catch them only to the middle of October.
The Chipset RD790 will be released on 65 nm technology ( at TSMC ) , which will allow to limit their energy consumption. As the main chipset innovations are considered : the PCI express 2.0 support and Triple crossFire, in addition to the support of processors generation phenom and HyperTransport 3.0 .
The North bridge RD790 will be supplemented with the south bridge SB600, but newer SB700 will appear in the end of November. The South bridge SB700 will ensure support to PCI and IDE interfaces . The South bridge SB750 will ensure the support to RAID 5 regime .
The cost of motherboard on base of chipset RD790 must exceed $100; however, firsts models from Asus and Gigabyte will for sure cost more than $200.
