Fresh report of International Data Corporation (IDC) makes it clear that the market for personal computers monitors are doing quite well. In principle, as we have repeatedly pointed out, the PC market in the first quarter showed signs of stabilization.
According to early forecasts, in the first quarter of 2014 could be sold 31 million monitors. In fact, in the first three months of 2014 worldwide dispersed 33.7 million monitors, which corresponds to an annual decrease in quarterly shipments by 0.4%. This trend, according to IDC, and will continue , that will result in annual shipments in 2018 at 106 million units. If we talk in terms of geography, the greatest demand for monitors was in Japan, Africa and the Middle East.
If we talk about the technological aspects, it should be noted almost complete abandonment of traditional producers backlight. In the first quarter the share of monitors with LED backlight has reached 92%. For the year, it increased by 16.4%. While the share of 21-inch monitor was greatest and the last six months in the first quarter amounted to 20.5%. As for the format, it is dominated by monitors with 16:9 aspect ratio. They own 81.3% of all cars sold in the first quarter of monitors. On the second place there are monitors with 16:10, but markedly less (first 6.5 times more than the second). However, in the U.S., such monitors hold 32.8% of the market (this number belongs to HP's 35.1%).
In the first place among the brands on the market is Dell company monitors . In the first quarter it owns 14.9% of the world market (for the quarter sold 5 million units). The greatest contribution in this direction made in Japan Dell (quarterly sales growth - 32.4%) and Western Europe (quarterly sales growth - 14.7%). In the U.S., sales for the quarter Dell monitors have not grown. Second position in the monitor market keeps Samsung company .
HP is located on the third place. But in Canada, it monitors sold the most, but in the U.S. it is the second largest supplier of PC monitors. During the year the quarterly delivery of HP monitors increased by 8.9%. In fourth place is LG company . Most LG Monitor is sold in Latin America. There share from this manufacturer equals 33%. The company also noted the personal record in deliveries for the quarter, which corresponds to the sale of 3.5 million monitors in three months. Chinese company Lenovo ranks fifth in the world. But in the Asia-Pacific region (excluding Japan) is ahead of all other vendors. Per quarter Lenovo supplied 2 million for PC monitors.
