A team of specialists iFixit conducted a study of smart watches Samsung Gear Live and LG G Watch, whose goal was to assess the maintainability of traditional devices. In the case of Gear Live, complaints which began to appear even before their actual date of sale, the issue is particularly relevant.
Interestingly, both devices have earned fairly high marks maintainability. Gear Live rated 8 out of 10 points for easy replacement battery . Perhaps the main drawback of watch design , according to iFixit, become display, glued into the case, which makes it non-trivial task of replacement. Incidentally, the device has antenna Wi-Fi, although officially Gear Live this kind of wireless communication is not supported. Samsung is going to either add new features in future updates firmware or uses common design elements for different models of watches.
Watch G Watch earned 9 points: they are easy to disassemble, and the only problem, as well as at Gear Live, became the glued to the case display.
