Dual core processors kuma phenom generation will be sold under the trade mark athlon 6xxx. We succeeded in confirming this information from our own sources.
We continues our report about the newest AMD roadmap. Thus, AMD actually transferred the announcement of dual core processors phenom generation to the second quarter 2008 - they will be released only after the debut of tricore processors phenom 7xxx, whose announcement is planned on March 2008. Completely logical priorities.
The announcement of processors series athlon 6xxx is so distant, there are no data about the frequencies of first two models. It is known only that they will work at frequencies more than 2.0 GHz. It was previously considered that dual core processors ( new generation ) can reach frequencies not less than 2.6 GHz. On this week it became known that in first half 2008 , phenom processors with four core can reach the 2.6-2.8 GHz frequencies . It is possible to assume that dual core processors will easily reach this frequency .
The numbers of athlon 6xxx models are already determined:
- Athlon 6250 - > two cores, Socket AM2+, system bus hyperTransport 3.0 with frequency not less than 3.2 GHz, 2 X 512 KB cache in the second level, 2 mb cache in the third level, TDP value not more than 65 W;
- Athlon 6050 - > two cores, Socket AM2+, system bus hyperTransport 3.0 with frequency not less than 3.2 GHz, 2 X 512 KB cache in the second level, 2 mb cache in the third level, value TDP not more than 65 W.
As we promised, during January 2008 , AMD will presented the single core processor athlon LE-1640. Associates report that its frequency is equal to 2.7 GHz, cache volume in the second level is equal to 512 KB, and the core is released on 65 of technology.
The following single core processor will get the designation form athlon16xx without LE prefix. It will be based on 65 nm core with 512 KB cache, TDP level will not exceed 45 W. All processors series 16xx relate to the K8 architecture , and they have the design concept socket AM2. Related Products :
