This year, Apple and handset manufacturers from China will acquire a total of more than half of the global total supply of LCD displays with high resolution, which are manufactured using low-temperature polysilicon (LTPS) and on base of oxide-semiconductor (Oxide TFT). To be more precise, their share will be 73% of the total number of deliveries.
The report says that the share of LTPS displays and Oxide TFT this year will be about 26% of the global supply of touch panels for mobile devices. It is 8 percentage points higher than in 2013. As for the display panels of amorphous silicon (a-Si, amorphous silicon), their share in the current year, on the contrary, decreases. Overall in 2014, according to forecasts, the market will be issued 467 million LTPS LCD panels and displays 42 million on the base of oxide semiconductor.
Apple, expected later this month to unveil its new iPhone 6, which will create additional demand for screens LTPS LCD. Actually, Apple with its iPhone smartphone and new brands from China are the most important driving forces contributing to increased supply of touchpanels LTPS and Oxide TFT .
I must say that Apple is the largest consumer LCD-panels type LTPS. Only this year, it will be the producers of 96 million displays for the iPhone 5 and 98 million for the iPhone 6, which will allow the company to take 37% of the world market for such screens.
