The semiconductor division of IBM brings revenue and in this regard a blue giant is determined to get rid of inefficient business. As a potential buyer of production called Globalfoundries, however, companies have not been able to agree on the financial side and the fate of the entire transaction is questionable.
IBM and Globalfoundries still able to reach an agreement, and the official announcement of the upcoming transaction can be done in early October. If the deal does take place, it can cause profound changes in the field of contract semiconductor manufacturing.
As previously reported, IBM offered Globalfoundries not only production facilities but also about $ 1 billion, which would compensate for the losses offered for sale of the company. Meanwhile, Globalfoundries asked for twice that amount, which was the cause of the stalled negotiations. It seems, IBM desperate to find another buyer and is going to accept the terms of Globalfoundries.
