Developer of video core for embedded applications - Imagination Technologies company - has introduced a new seventh series of graphics cores.  Cores PowerVR 7XT carry up to 512 computing units and capable of computing performance up to 1.5 teraflops, while core PowerVR 7XE focused on default consumption and begin to work from 20 gigaflops.  Thus, a new series of  Imagination core opens up opportunities to scale platform. Imagination Company admits that the new core can be used in game consoles of new generation notebooks and even in server platforms .  Formally developer PowerVR cores defies AMD and NVIDIA, but this becomes a contender for the Imagination by NVIDIA.       Certainly, AMD also tends to last a niche, preparing to release Opteron with ARM cores and integrated graphics Radeon.  However, NVIDIA has gone further and trying to license the proprietary graphics architecture developers SoC, including the latest - Maxwell.  Imagination Company supplies only intellectual property and does not climb into concrete development.  However, this  has a downside - the drivers.  Drivers for IP core and drivers for finished products - are two different things.  Problems exist even with the drivers to the finished product Intel, NVIDIA and AMD.   Now a little more detail about the new core PowerVR.  Compared to cores sixth series performance core seventh series increased by up to 60%.  In the older series configuration PowerVR 7XT has 16 clusters of 32 in each ALU 512 or computing units.  Optionally, it can support API Microsoft DirectX 11.2 and OpenGL ES 3.1 (Android 5.0 Lollipop), as well as 64-bit computing FP64 as a coprocessor.  An interesting feature of the new series of graphics cores has enhanced virtualization and multi-zone systems safe (protected) calculations.  Stated as an optional support coding standard H.265 (HEVC) and hardware acceleration of tessellation.   Cores PowerVR 7XE simple enough - just one unified shader cluster including 8 or 16 pipelines.  Imagination Company started selling licenses to the new core.  In the finished product  PowerVR 7XT 7XE promise to appear next year.
