The chipet VIA PT880 Pro was good capability it support AGP 8x and the operating mode PCI Express x4 slots for graphic interface card with PCI Express x16. In Addition it support DDR 400 and DDR2-667 memory . ASRock try to use those advantages to create a truly universal platform for working with LGA 775 processors .
Last week, went the first graphics card with PCI Express 2.0 support -GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB . As reported associate with reference to the technical support ASRock, the chipsets VIA PT880 Pro do not allow a normal work with graphics cards witch support PCI Express 2.0. For example, to use VIA PT880 Pro with graphics card GeForce 8800 GT, it is necessary first to activate regime PCI Express 1.x in the BIOS (Video card bios).
Note that this is not the first problem with VIA chipsets in the support of advanced interfaces , for example the south bridges VIA has problem with the support of current disks that work under SATA-300.
