Since Asus company was able to announce the motherboards based on chipset AMD 790FX, Gigabyte company decided to catch up, and now on the official site there is the description of the latest three models based chipset AMD 790FX (RD790), and 790X (RD780).
The high end model is based on AMD 790FX : GA-MA790FX-DQ6. This motherboard have all four slots PCI Express x16 :
- Two video cards -> PCI Express x16 + PCI Express x16 ;
- Three video card-> PCI Express x16 + PCI Express x8 + PCI Express x8 ;
- Four video card-> PCI Express x8 + PCI Express x8 + PCI Express x8 + PCI Express x8.
All PCI Express slots on the motherboard correspond to the PCI Express 2.0 specifications , including PCI Expressx1 connectors . The motherboard GA-MA790FX-DQ6 has the ability to connect four external drive with eSATA interface, in addition to the two ports on the rear panel. This motherboard has Also two Gigabit Ethernet port and technology Quad BIOS.
Gigabyte GA-MA790FX-DS5 is also based on AMD 790FX chipset , but equipped with only two slots PCI Express x16. Moreover, there is only one Gigabit network port and two eSATA connector on the rear panel. The BIOS use a simpler technology DualBIOS Plus.
The motherboard GA-MA790X-DS4 is the simplest solution of the three, it is based on chipset AMD 790X (RD780). Two slots PCI Express x16 working in CrossFire at PCI Express x8 + PCI Express x8 . The number of SATA-300 port is reduced from six to four.
Those motherboards will appear in sale late on November or early December. Retail prices will be : GA-MA790FX-DQ6 ($ 281), GA-MA790FX-DS5 ($ 230) and GA-MA790X-DS4 ($ 180).
