Intel at current exhibition CES 2015 has a lot of time, effort and money allocated for advertising technology package RealSense. Originally technology RealSense assumed the presence in the notebook of two or more specialized chambers. One of them - it is a normal image sensor with high resolution, and the second chamber - a depth sensor scene. With the help of specialized software and applications like sensor can serve as a tool for games, entertainment or work. Examples are numerous:
from the creation of three-dimensional models to the user gesture recognition.
But Intel has decided to go ahead. The sensors RealSense eventually will be prescribed in tablets and smartphones. To do this you need to create compact modules considerably smaller than those designed for installation in laptops. For tablets the company introduced a module RealSense thickness of 3.8 mm with sides 100 x 8mm. But this is something that concerns purely computing devices. The company is also working on modules RealSense for robotic applications, in particular - for
drones. For aircraft created module with sides of 3.8 mm and weighing 4 grams. Such a module, by the way, Intel offers to cling to clothes.
During his speech, the head of Intel assistants demonstrated the sensors RealSense, playing a couple of drones into a kind of table tennis. They waved their arms and drones shied away from them. Intel is clearly ready to stake clearing.
Of the more mundane projects we mention Intel developers kitchen appliances that can be controlled by gestures.
