The alternative versions GeForce 8800 GT is getting serious modification : New  cooler , higher frequencies, three-phase instead of two-phase power system , new PCB and component. Tests shown that the 256 MB memory graphics card version may be enough, but the 512 Mb version look even more impressive . Asus EN8800GT/HTDP/1G not only got 1 GB GDDR-3 memory  , but also received three phase power system, as well as an alternative cooling system, known to us under the name Glaciator. This new cooler reduces the video chip temperature  by 7 degrees Celsius compared with the reference cooling system. Memory bus remained as before 256-bit,  the frequency was constant-600/1800 MHz. Note that ECS GeForce 8800 GT version with 1 GB has slow GDDR-2 memory operating at 1000 MHz DDR frequency  . With such low frequency  profits from the increased memory volume is highly questionable. Note also that other partners are also preparing  NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT with 1 GB memory. The Radeon HD 3870 will be also released in version with 1 GB memory. Related Products :

Those cards are not supported in third party monitoring programs like Everest, RivaTuner, etc. The only thing they report is temperature via Asus SmartDoctor. NVIDIA reference drivers have mechanisms for correct temperature readout which does not work thanks to VGABIOS \"customization\" done by ASUS. While temperature reading can and will be implemented in those third-party tools, you should refrain form posting any temperature comparisons with reference cards until they find out proper formula for G92 internal thermal diode calibration. Asus software uses much simplified formula and it may not be even correct, much less accurate. Another thing to note, those ASUS cards with radial cooler lack ADT7473 HW monitoring and controller IC so you can say goodbye to GPU ambient temperature sensing, RAM temperature sensing, and fan RPM sensing and control. If you look closely you will notice that fan even lacks tachometer output (has only two wires) so RPM sensing would not be possible at all even if the chip was there. To add an insult to the injury, fan is not even quiet and it looks of pretty low quality.
