According to analysts Digitimes Research, Lenovo smartphone sales in the first quarter of 2015 amounted to only 8.9 million units, which is less than the projected volume (about 10 million) and on a par with sales a year ago. For comparison, in the fourth quarter 2014 the company has shipped 15 million smartphones.
Analysts recognize that the position of Lenovo in the market remain relatively weak, despite the fact that it has just two brands of smart phones - Lenovo and Motorola Mobility. Although initially it was expected that by buying Motorola, Chinese giant will strengthen its position in foreign markets.
In fairness, we note that smartphones sold under the brand name Motorola, have a steady demand in North America and other emerging markets, including India and Latin America. In addition, there were also impressive sales results for budget models Motorola smartphones in China.
