This year, Intel has promised to start its joint venture with Micron to release samples of solid state memory such as 3D V-NAND , and a couple of years to offer SSDs for the server application, capable of storing 10 terabytes.
Quarterly reporting the conference Intel representatives confirmed their intention to release the second half of the memory type 3D NAND, through which 10 TB data can be written to the drive standard form factor of 2.5. Cost of issuance of such memory at the same time will be lower than that of 2D NAND.
Intel executives also explained that half of all produced in conjunction with Micron solid-state memory is deposited in the corporate sector. Generally, the release of solid-state memory is one of the main sources of profit growth of the company, together with the production of server processors segment and Internet Things. These three areas of activity in the last quarter accounted for 40% of Intel revenue , as in the structure of operating profit they made up two-thirds.
