The so-called TLB error in our days has so much attention. This problem was detected in AMD laboratory and  its manifestations in real life is quite low. The proposed cure by AMD to combat this problem, has one unpleasant side -  switching off  a part in the third cache level may reduce the processor speed by few percent (about 10%). Before the motherboard BIOS update, to switch on or off the buffer to prevent or to not sacrifice the system performance , note that the loss in stability was manifested in very rare circumstances. Motherboard  Manufacturers will use the TLB error setting turned on by default. Those who wish to avoid this option have to use older BIOS versions witch is not always suitable. However, in its utility OverDrive , AMD company is going to leave the management of protection against  TLB errors affordable to end user. Associate tested the serial processor Phenom 9600 (2.3 GHz) in the motherboard MSI before and after the application of TLB patch in the BIOS. Test results are given in the following table. If we do not take in account the results of memory system tests  , which after TLB patch has more noticeable impact, the drop in performance has the average of 13.9%. TLB problem applies to all processors (Barcelona) Phenom stepping B2. After moving to B3 stepping in next (March) the processors Phenom 9550 (2.2 GHz) and Phenom 9650 (2.3 GHz) will get rid of TLB error . Related Products :
