In contrast to the Opening Day of the meeting with analysts, AMD CEO Lisa Su, chief engineer Marc Peypermaster  gave overall strategy much less time, preferring to focus on the central processors and graphics solutions.  His presentation was not overloaded with technical details that are collected at the event, the audience could not be clear - investors and analysts are more interested in the potential economic impact of the proposed innovations.  In 2016, as we mentioned in the previous article, AMD expects to increase its share in the segment processors for PCs and consumer-grade graphics solutions.   First of all, Mark focused on the high-performance x86-compatible architecture  Zen, the processors on the base of which we will see next year.  This is a completely new design, which allows for simultaneous processing of multiple threads (SMT), offers high-speed cache memory with low latency and can also scale from client solutions to enterprise-level products.  Releases CPU architecture should Zen with FinFET-structures.  The number of executed commands per clock will be 40% more than in the case of processors generation Excavator.  Zen's successors until appear in the plans AMD under the symbol "Zen +", the timing of their announcement is not reported.   But processor architectures K12, which AMD has developed independently under license from ARM, will appear on the market before 2017.  Apparently, they will be used in the segment of embedded and server systems.   Speaking about the stages of the evolution of graphics solutions, AMD chief engineer mentions the adaptation of a virtual reality technology this year and the transition to the use of advanced memory system.  In 2016 scheduled transition to production of GPU using FinFET-structures and a two-fold improvement in energy efficiency without sacrificing performance. Memory type HBM, according to representatives of AMD, has three times the best balance of performance and power consumption compared to GDDR5, and lower power consumption at it twice. AMD is also ready to provide dedicated co-processor that will be responsible for security and data encryption. The modular approach to the development of processing cores will allow AMD with less time and resources to design almost any solution.   By the way, Mark Peypermaster made it clear that the first  Zen architecture should be efficient desktop processor without integrated graphics.  Hybrid processor architecture cores Zen appear somewhat later, but still within 2016.  All of them are compatible with the new platform Socket AM4, which will provide support to memory type DDR4.  For mobile solutions will be offered to the platform Socket FP4. Speaking about the prospects of the server segment and "custom" solutions, AMD representatives have hinted that the years 2016-2017 will enter the market as processors Opteron architecture Zen, and solutions ARM-based architecture K12.  The latter, however, as we have said, will come no earlier than 2017.  Hybrid processors will be used in performance server systems.
