With a delay of six months, Micron company has started shipping samples of 16-nm flash memory to NAND-type cell TLC. Mass production of this memory type the company was going to start in the fourth quarter 2014. Prior to that, Micron produced 20-nm NAND TLC and 16-nanometer NAND MLC. The transition to 16-nanometer production memory will significantly increase the yield of crystals on each plate. Thus, the chip area of 16-nm memory TLC 28% less than the 16-nm MLC memory of equal volume. It certainly reduces the cost of storage for each gigabyte of data on a flash drive, and promises to make cheaper products in retail.
According to statistics , in terms of volume shipments of flash memory 3 bit cell somewhere in a year could overtake flash memory with two-bit cell. Therefore, Micron company keeps in line with general industry trends. Related Products :
