The budget single core processors AMD series Athlon LE-16xx will be transferred on 65 nm technical process in the first quarter 2008, and now they are based on 90 nm core stepping F3, which demonstrates a good overclocking abilities. Furthermore, processor Athlon Le-1620 (2.4 GHz) in the beginning of January must fall in price.
The single core processors Athlon LE-16xx are based on stepping F3, they possess low price and compatibility with Socket AM2. Let us note that in contrast to Sempron processors , they possess the valuable 1 Mb cache in the second level.
On XtremeSystems forum one participants acquired immediately two processors Athlon Le-1620 (2.4 GHz) in order to estimate their overclocking potential.
Concrete copy was released during October of the present year. Like all existing processors of this series, it is based on 90 nm core Orleans stepping F3. according to the idea, all similar dual core processors are rather well overclocked.
As showed experiment, processor Athlon Le-1620 (2.4 GHz) could overclock to 3300 MHz with 1.44 v , being satisfied only with air cooling. Separate copies with the use of powerful cooler are overclocked also to 3.5 GHz.
With water cooling system it was possible to overclock the processor to 3652 MHz with 1.47 V. 9 degree Celsius water allowed the processor to work already at 3708 MHz frequency with 1.504v , with 6 degree Celsius water it was possible to attain the stable processor operation at frequency 3816 MHz with 1.52 V. SuperPI 1M in this case was executed in 21,343 seconds.
