Not only NVIDIA chapter considers the automotive industry promising consumer microelectronic products. Modern cars not only to acquire more and more advanced infotainment systems, but also learn to ride independently and assist the driver. Appropriate onboard systems require the use of modern electronic components and advanced algorithms that do not call into question the safety aspects.
The Korean company Samsung this week announced the beginning of cooperation with the Audi brand in the framework of the Progressive SemiConductor Program (PSCP), which involves the supply of the automaker's advanced semiconductor products that meet all safety and reliability requirements for the production of the German mark. Samsung will supply the Audi memory chips that will be used in the control and in the infotainment system of the vehicle manufacturer.
Audi will get the type of memory LPDDR4, released on 20 nm technology class, as well as solid-state memory such as eMMC 5.1, released on 10 nm technology class. This cooperation proves once again that the share of microelectronic components in modern cars will only increase, and manufacturers are interested in the selection of the last reliable long-term partners.
