Japanese brands Vaio, Toshiba and Fujitsu are willing to combine their businesses to produce laptops that have an impact on the overall market and the Taiwan ODM-producers in particular. This is with reference to reliable sources says the Taiwanese trade publication DigiTimes.
According to sources from the supply chain, Vaio, Toshiba and Fujitsu plan to unite and co-lead the PC business. Negotiations between the two companies have already moved into the final stage and soon they announced a possible agreement. The possibility of a merger and points out that Toshiba has recently notified the Taiwanese contract manufacturer Pegatron to abolish the order for production of 300 thousand laptops. However, the company declined to comment on their partners. By the way, Pegatron last year received more than 50% of orders for the assembly of notebooks Toshiba.
In the case of Vaio, Toshiba and Fujitsu associations will own about 30% of the notebook market in Japan. For comparison, NEC / Lenovo now controls 29% of the market.
