Yesterday ReactOS developers of free operating system reported the release of 0.4.0. This version should be a new branch of the system and significantly advance it to the full product.  The main innovation of version 0.4.0 is support for reading / writing in the ext2 filesystem and read to NTFS.It should also be noted enhanced support for audio devices, USB, Wi-Fi and SATA. Finally, the new version has normal support VirtualBox and VirtualPC. In ReactOS 0.4.0 improved build system, which is based on CMake and GCC and MSVC compilers, and has been implemented remote debugging kernel. Another interesting fact is that now ReactOS can run 16-bit software, the (using the emulator NTVDM). In general, of course, too early to talk about ReactOS as a more or less complete system, even taking into account the fact that it promised to support at the government level as a national operating system.
