The smartphone market has reached a point of saturation and the global smartphone shipments decreased by 1.3% year on year and fell altogether by 18.6% . In total, in the first quarter 2016 292.7 million smartphones were shipped, as evidenced by a new report of research firm TrendForce. For comparison, in the fourth quarter last year, total worldwide shipments of smartphones totaled 358,199 million units.
According to GSMArena citing TrendForce data, the proportion of South Korean company Samsung by the end of the previous quarter increased by 5.7 percentage points compared with the fourth quarter 2015. In the first three months of 2016 it has put on the market 81 million smartphones, thus it was able to take first place in the global market with 27.8% share. It is followed by Apple company , whose share fell from 20.9% in the fourth quarter of last year to 14.4% in the first quarter of this year. In third place with a share of 9.3% is located the Chinese company Huawei. Companies Lenovo, Xiaomi and LG owns more 5.8%, 5.5% and 5.1% market share respectively. The remaining 32.1% of the market occupied by other manufacturers.
Also TrendForce analysts were rating the leading Chinese manufacturers of smartphones in the first quarter of 2016. First place went to the company Huawei, second - Lenovo, and the third took Xiaomi. Also in the list included TCL, Oppo and BBK / Vivo. Related Products :
