During the presentation of its new graphics card Radeon RX 480, AMD has said that the pair of data cards, working in Crossfire mode, can show better performance than a single GeForce GTX 1080 Founders Edition in the game Ashes of Singularity.
Dual AMD Radeon RX 480 at a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels in Crazy quality profile and 8xMSAA, able to show the result in 62.5 cd / s (fps), whereas GeForce GTX 1080 FE in the same conditions, showed productivity 58.7 cd / s. AMD also unofficially informed that in this mode, a single Radeon RX 480 in this mode can provide 34.2 cd / s. For comparison GeForce GTX 970 overclocked to 1.3 GHz gaining 30.3 cd / s and Radeon R9 290X with frequency 1080 MHz - 38.9 cd / s.
All other performance measures derived from the database Ashes of Singularity. Note that for proper comparison, our colleagues selected tests of systems with Intel Core i7-5930K processor.
So, at a resolution of 2560 X 1440 pixels, in the Extreme quality profile and 4xMSAA graphics card Radeon RX 480 showed 40 cd / s, video card Radeon R9 390X - 45.4 cd / s, and two Radeon RX480 in Crossfire mode - 66 cd / s. Under the same conditions, but with Crazy quality profile, two video cards Radeon RX480 in Crossfire mode showed 51 cd / sec, and GeForce GTX 1080 - 50.9 cd / s.
In general, the results are quite expected. It should be noted that these are only preliminary results, and by optimizing the drivers and other refinements, the graphics card will be able to show the best results to be released at the end of this month.
