The next flagship processor Qualcomm will be marketed under the name Snapdragon 835 and not Snapdragon 830 as previously thought. As it became known recently, its production on 10-nanometer process technology will be engaged the South Korean company Samsung.
According to the publication PhoneArena, Snapdragon 835 (MSM 8998) will include eight cores, while the Snapdragon 820 and 821 include a quad-core processor. Eight cores Kryo 200 will be divided into two clusters with different clock frequency. Also part of the new single-chip platform will be Adreno 540 graphics accelerator and a built-in modem X16 LTE speeds up to 1 Gbit / s. The chip will be endowed with the support of RAM LPDDR4X-1866 and flash drives UFS 2.1.
The advent of mobile devices based Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 is expected in the first quarter 2017. One of the first smartphones based on Snapdragon 835 will be the flagship Samsung Galaxy S8, which will debut at MWC 2017.
Also in the published source document mentions one more new Qualcomm chip called Snapdragon 660 (MSM 8976 Plus), which will be released in the second quarter next year. It will be released on 14-nanometer process technology. Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 will consist of eight-core processor Kryo (four cores clocked at 2.2 GHz and four cores clocked at 1.9 GHz), Adreno 512 graphics and X10 LTE-modem.
