The current flagship Samsung is available in two versions. Samsung Galaxy S7 is equipped with a flat screen and Edge-model has curved at the edges of the screens. But the Galaxy S7 successor, though will be released in two versions.
Source Korea Herald reported that Samsung plans to abandon the use of flat panel displays in its flagship smartphones. Both the Samsung Galaxy S8 will feature a curved display on both sides with the narrow limits of the edges. It will take about 90% of the front surface. One version of the Galaxy S8 is equipped with a 5.7-inch curved AMOLED-display, and the other - 6.2-inch.
The publication notes that not all people are convinced of the usefulness of the curved display. Korean analysts believe that smartphones with curved displays is not in great demand, because many users find them uncomfortable.
Also, sources said that Samsung is now developing at least two smartphone with folding design, allowing them to be used as a tablet. They will be presented before the end of 2017.
It is expected that the announcement of Samsung Galaxy S8 will take place at the exhibition MWC 2017, which starts in late February in Barcelona. The new flagship will receive an eight-core processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 with Adreno 540 graphics, but it will lose the 3.5 mm audio jacks for headphones and a usual Home button.
