BMW and Intel are prepared to cooperate in the creation of autopilot, but some time ago BMW separately announced collaboration with Israeli company Mobileye, whose specialty processors and cameras were expelled from Tesla Motors supply chain after the accumulated differences and the first fatal incident. At CES 2017, all three companies have disclosed additional details on the perspectives of cooperation.
Already in the second half of this year, BMW is going to release on the road 40 prototype vehicles equipped with automatic control system.
As it turns out, Intel participates in the project not only processors to server-side computing and accelerators Xeon Phi, but FPGA and programmable arrays, as well as solutions for the built-in appliances, which endure extreme temperatures. MobilEye give BMW 5 series processors EyeQ and appropriate software algorithms. Intel processors will be present directly in every prototype BMW. Related Products :
