Acer this month demonstrated a prototype system, developed in conjunction with one of the universities in Taiwan, which is designed to help drivers reduce the search time of free parking spaces. Special application for the smartphone will advance to notify the motorist about the availability in the surrounding parking lots, and guide the driver along the shortest route to their goals with the help of the navigation system. It is estimated that on average, the search space in the parking lot drivers spend up to 20 minutes, and in city traffic and 30% of the cars took place on the road only to find a parking space.
The new system also integrates a service for the automatic payment of parking. "Smart" parking meters are read license plates, and with the owner of the account automatically charged for parking. While the system will run a test operation in only one city in Taiwan, but in the future it is planned to be extended to other municipalities as well. The development of the ecosystem "Internet of Things" will enhance the ease of use of the road infrastructure.
