To our deep regret for all of us, the batteries are being improved very slowly.  And this despite the fact that many different technologies have already been proposed, which promise to increase the capacity of batteries and reduce their size.  Perhaps the problem can be solved with the help of batteries, which themselves collect energy from the environment: from light, vibrations, radio signals, temperature fluctuations and other.  A similar "eternal" battery with a number of other distinctive features was offered by Ilika Technologies from England, created on the basis of the University of Southampton University . The battery of the company Ilika Technologies does not contain liquid electrolyte, therefore it does not carry a fire hazard, which often happens with lithium-ion batteries.  At the same time, the battery electrodes use this material, but in a solid state.  Ideally, developers tend to switch to electrodes made of semiconductor materials. Another feature of the battery of the company Ilika Technologies is the production technology.  Batteries are performed on silicon wafers in one production cycle.  The company has patented materials and technical process.  For example, its batteries instead of powder coating layers use the method of evaporation and deposition of materials.  This is a fairly economical way for mass production.  Any semiconductor manufacturer that can use GaAs, SiC, GaN or produce OLED will be able to produce Ilika Technologies solid-state batteries.  For this, for example, the production of TSMC has already been verified.  The technology also allows integrating batteries on printed circuit boards and even into SoC. Once a charged solid-state battery, Ilika can be recharged and powered up without using a person for up to 10 years.  The company produces several prototype batteries for beacons with solar-powered batteries.  The operating temperature range of the battery starts from -40 degrees Celsius to +150 degrees.  This solution is for industrial use, for cars and for things with an Internet connection.  By the way, charging a solid-state battery takes place six times faster than a traditional lithium-ion battery. According to the developer, the technology of the company for several recent years is interested in Japanese Toyota.  The companies have joint developments.  The British did not give Toyota patents for small batteries, but shared with them patents for car versions of solid-state batteries.  It is expected that Toyota will begin mass production of those until 2025.
