In the shadow of more important announcements at the end of April, NVIDIA announced its intention to equip the GeForce GTX 1080 and GeForce GTX 1060 with faster GDDR5X memory chips. Some of them have already been seen in retail, but since such modernization touched on products of non-standard design, then some "disagreement" in the timing of their appearance on the market was completely permitted. Colleagues from the site EXPEview argue that the bulk of the updated GeForce GTX 1080 and GeForce GTX 1060 with faster memory should have appeared on sale by the end of May.
The source also reports that video card manufacturers do not share NVIDIA's optimism about the market prospects for such products. First, additional expenses require not only faster memory, but also new packaging and promotional materials. Secondly, the speed of performance provided by the modernization of the memory subsystem is not so great as to attract a mass buyer. In other words, do not be surprised if the versions of GeForce GTX 1080 and GeForce GTX 1060 with faster memory turn out to be a scarce commodity.
