POSTER:computer news || INTEL SKYLAKE-X PROCESSORS REMAIN A SCARCE COMMODITY
DATE:2017-07-18
Many of the nuances in the premiere of Intel's Skylake-X processors were alarming. We have become accustomed to the fact that commodity processors have appeared with some delay regarding the moment of prices disclosure and characteristics. Much more alarming was the spread in time of announcements of older models of the family. In addition, Japanese stores have been waiting for commercial copies of Skylake-X for longer than usual.
In general, there was an impression that Intel was in a hurry to bring Skylake-X to the market, and this is more true, since the initial debut of these processors was planned for August this year. Resource Fudzilla with reference to traditional sources reports that retailers can not get Skylake-X processors in the desired quantities. For obvious reasons, there are no comments from the manufacturer, but colleagues assume that the deficit is explained by several factors.
First, Intel could have misjudged the potential for demand. Secondly, the acceleration of the announcement simply did not allow Intel to create a sufficiently large stock of ready processors. Finally, the relationship with the server processors Skylake-SP forces to direct the main volumes to the needs of the corresponding segment, and desktop systems do not fall into the priority quotas. All this should play into the hands of AMD.
