The summer has already begun to decline, but this does not mean that the news is growing with the approach of the business season. In this sense, to see such a number of informational occasions related to AMD products in the middle of July is somewhat unusual, but it is invariably pleasant - even if the products of this brand are estimated by the source ambiguously. Experts Barclays from the pages of the blog Tech Trader Daily are trying to dispel the euphoria of some colleagues about the prospects of EPYC processors in the server market.
According to them, the leading server manufacturers in contact with them do not yet demonstrate a high interest in systems based on AMD EPYC processors. As a matter of fact, while interest to novelties is shown only by the Chinese players, and also HP and Dell. Of course, the latter two can not be called small market participants, but the presence of an EPYC-based server in the product range does not yet guarantee a high demand. In addition, corporate customers are sluggish and conservative, and AMD has not yet formed a sufficiently mature infrastructure, so that server sales based on EPYC become massive.
According to Barclays experts, even reaching 10% of the server market for AMD remains a rather difficult task, not to mention the return to historical highs.
