On the quarterly report, Tesla admitted that now it receives 1800 orders for an electric vehicle Model 3 per day, and the total volume of orders by Ilon Mask was announced a few days ago - then it was claimed that the figure exceeded the mark of half a million copies. At the quarterly conference, the head of Tesla hastened to justify, because of the 518 thousand orders for Tesla Model 3, only 455 thousand were confirmed and topical.
Representatives of Tesla explained why commodity electric vehicles are given to employees of the company in the first place. These are fully ready-made serial copies, but at the first stages of mass production development the probability of defects occurrence is higher - in the case of Tesla products, it is one case per 1000 electric vehicles. Employees Tesla is easier to provide the manufacturer with "feedback", as they also do these electromobiles, as explained by Mask. In general, from this point of view, Tesla's staff looks like a "group of testers", not privileged buyers. By the way, they buy electric cars at full cost, no discounts are provided.
Ilon Mask explained to one of the guests of the event that Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model S, despite the difference in the capacity of traction batteries (this characteristic is not yet disclosed for the new model), are fully charged about the same time. One of their employees Tesla admitted that it is technically possible to provide a full charge in fifteen minutes, but the attendant costs make this process not very profitable for the end user. Most likely, it was also meant heating the batteries with fast charging, and reducing the resource, and the need to develop a more powerful electrical network.
