The new 45 nm processor core 2 Duo e7200 (2.53 GHz) already appeared on sale and today some data about those processor overclock appeared in xtremeSystems. This processor is interesting, it combine the 45 nm technical process and high multiplier 9.5x with relatively low price ($133). Its cache capacity ( in the second level ) is equal to 3 mb. Thus, let us examine the two experiments on core 2 Duo e7200 (2.53 GHz) overclock  . Both were using a processor with SLAVN marking ( stepping M0 core wolfdale ). The motherboard asus commando (Intel p965) with 1.65 v and air cooler scythe infinity with powerful 120 mm succeeded to overclock the processor up to 4.5 GHz: In the second case with water cooling , the processor core 2 Duo e7200 was  overclocked to 4.2-4.3 GHz with 1.48-1.5 v. Dry ice allowed to overclock this processor to 5229 MHz. The overclocking potential of core 2 Duo e7xxx  processors will be improved after passage on M1 stepping . Related Products :

	Wouldn\'t that high voltage fry the CPU? I\'ve heard horror stories of people going only slightly over 1.4v and frying this bad boy.

	This was with Dry ice cooling so it is quite normal voltage .

	I was under the impression that 1.3625v was the highest that these 45nm should see, especially under air. @ 1.5+v won\'t this make the life of this processor something....really short?

yeah 1.5 v for air is a bit risky , but from personal experience i can say that 1.45 for air (sub 60 c) is pretty safe for over 1 year (and may be more ) , 1.5 v will be completely safe for sub zero cooling .Acording to intel data : 1.425 is max voltage (processor will start to degrade) and 1.375 is the max safe voltage . Any why who care if the cpu will live over 1-2 years it will be useless , since a new update is expected . My e8500 was for 1 year @ 5 Ghz with 1.65 V (-50 c) no problem was seen until update to E8600
