The characteristics and prices of video card on the base of RV770 chip were already examined during April, Now its time to introduce the updated information. It was asserted that up to Computex 2008 AMD partners cannot show video card models , since drivers are not ready. Associate reported that series video card on base of RV770 with air cooling can be overclocked to frequencies more than 1 GHz ( core ). However, The announcement of first models on base of RV770 chip ( radeon HD 4850 ) is planned for between 15 and on 22 June. This product will include 512 mb GDDR3 memory with price $189-219. This video card will be satisfied by one stage cooling system and single six-pin power cable. The radeon HD 4850 version with 256 mb memory is intended only for OEM- market; therefore, in retail it will not appear immediately. During July AMD will present the video card radeon HD 4870 with 512 mb GDDR- 5 memory . Recommended cost will be $249-279, but AMD is completely capable of decreasing it value to $199-249. The cooling system of this video card will occupy two expansion slots. Later AMD partners can release the radeon HD 4870 version with 1 Gb GDDR- 5 memory . The two-chip video card radeon HD 4870 X2 will get 2 X 512 MB memory . The Memory used will be GDDR- 5. According to preliminary evaluations, the one chip video card radeon HD 4870 will be able to be as fast as two-chip radeon HD 3870 X2. Single video card on base of RV770 will require a power unit with not less than 450 W, two video card will require a power unit on 550 W. The Radeon HD 4870 X2 will be equipped with one six and one 8 pin power connector . Video card on base of RV770 will support PCI express 2.0, DirectX 10.1, HDMI and UVD2. Producer promises, that video card series radeon HD 48xx will get some abilities to accelerate physics in games. | ||
