A Week ago the video card radeon HD 4850 was not officially announced but on sale it was already available, Now the high end version radeon HD 4870, which formally must be presented on July 8, is already sold in Hong Kong .

First let us introduce the standard video card radeon HD 4870.

The video card use a dual slot cooler, its characteristics are : 55 nm chip RV770 operates at 750 MHz, and communicates with 512 mb GDDR5 memory using the 256- bit bus. Memory, in turn, operates at 3600 MHz DDR. This video Card has two six-pin power connectors , and power elements occupy the essential part of the printed-circuit board.

The Cooler consists on radiator, fan (turbine) and plastic cover. Two thick thermal tubes will remove heat from the copper base, which is connected with the video chip.

This Video card is equipped with GDDR-5 microcircuits from qimonda production with access time 0.5 ns, capable of working at 4 GHz DDR. Theoretically, this memory has certain overclock reserve. Two Radeon HD 4870 goes around in crysis game of single GeForce GTX 280 in DirectX 10, and in DirectX 9 they approaches the results of two GeForce GTX 280. Single Radeon HD 4870 can compete not only from GeForce GTX 260, but also from GeForce 9800 GX2.
